A group of PGCE learners have established a campaign called Defenders of Citizenship Education (DOCE) . Aware that the area of study is under review following the alteration in Government, the group are aiming to get as numerous supporters as feasible to sign their petition which they plan to send to Michael Gove.
DOCE stated that “Citizenship Education can have an significant impact in tackling disengagement, political disillusionment and voter apathy by engaging younger people in relevant real life matters and demonstrating how they can make a difference.”
