Parliament Week

September 27, 2011

The UK’s initial ever Parliament Week takes place between 31 October and 6 November 2011.

The week comprises a programme of activities exploring how and why the Houses of Parliament matter to everyone. At Parliamentary Year Book we think this is a great chance to show your MP a citizenship class in action.

The theme for Parliament Week 2011 is ‘Stories of Democracy’ “from the past to the present, from local to national”. Parliament hopes that it will raise awareness about “how democracy affects individuals and how they can participate in it”. What stronger approach than to get your MP in to your school to talk with learners and staff about the relationship between youth, politics and citizenship? For further guidance, see the relevant UK information.
